The Wrap-Up: IPTC Three & Four / Four - The Results
Following my previous sessions, I’ve now completed the full two-week course of intermittent pneumatic compression therapy (IPCT) with two final appointments. Both sessions followed the same procedure as before, with the Flowtron machine set at 40 mmHg, providing firm and consistent compression throughout the treatment.
At my final session, the wrap from the previous treatment was removed and I was pleased to see that there had been a noticeable reduction in swelling. This progress has felt really encouraging. It’s a great result after weeks of effort and a sign that the treatment is working.
I was remeasured for a new, tighter Class 3 compression stocking for daytime wear, tailored more precisely to my current measurements. I was also fitted for a Class 1 night-time compression garment. This new garment is made from a softer, more flexible material and fits more loosely than my daytime compression. Notably, the thigh section doesn’t include the silicone band found in the daytime version, making it more comfortable for extended overnight wear.
As I prepare to return to university and resume dancing after a month-long break, I’m curious (and a little nervous) to see how well the swelling reduction holds up under the physical demands of daily training. My next assessment will help determine whether this treatment cycle will be repeated and whether wearing compression overnight will become a longer-term strategy in my care plan.
For now, I’m grateful for the progress and hopeful about what comes next.
